CORRUPT PAULETTE
Six years. Bad decisions.
The record
Paulette Guajardo has served as Mayor for almost six years. Six years of bad decisions. Six years of poor judgement.
Read the record
Suspended from office. 30 days.
Our city. Our reputation. Our future.
In that time frame, the city’s reputation has been dragged through the mud and the country sees us as a joke, the city that ran out of water. Meanwhile, our citizens are hurting financially. Food prices are rising. Gasoline crossed $4 a gallon for unleaded and could be $5 by Election Day.
We see nothing from Mayor Guajardo to address any of these problems. Just bad headlines that embarrass the citizens of Corpus Christi:
The voters of Corpus Christi have had enough with the embarrassing headlines and bad decisions that cost them money. We need new leadership in the Mayor’s Office.
It’s time for Paulette Guajardo to go.
A first in Corpus Christi history.
SUSPENDED
VOTE
Guajardo is the first Corpus Christi mayor in the city’s 174-year history to be suspended from office.
Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette Guajardo was suspended for 30 days after a jury of city councilmembers voted that she committed perjury in a 2025 deposition hearing — the charge that triggered a 5–1 vote to suspend her. She was also reprimanded for the charge.
01Perjury
The charge related to a 2025 deposition hearing triggered a 5–1 vote to suspend her. She was also reprimanded for the charge.
02Misconduct & taxpayer incentives
Another charge accused her of misconduct, malfeasance, or willful neglect of her duties by aiding fraud against the taxpayers related to the alleged need for complying with newly defined FEMA flood maps and/or an altered FEMA screenshot.
03Confidentiality
The final charge accused Guajardo of failing to keep confidentiality of a CCREDC meeting.
Council voted that Guajardo be held accountable for all three charges. All of them related to $2 million in tax incentives going to the Homewood Suites project after a FEMA flood map was altered.
As embarrassing as it is to have your own mayor suspended, it would not be the last time Mayor Guajardo embarrassed the voters.
The cost of failed leadership.
Proposed cost to Corpus Christi ratepayers
Paulette is Inner Harbor’s biggest cheerleader.
Mayor Guajardo’s failed leadership came to a head this year when the city’s reservoir levels fell to 7% this summer, a first for the city. Experts said we could become, “The first American city to run out of water.”
And what was Paulette’s solution? To push for the most expensive water desalination program, Inner Harbor, that would have cost Corpus Christi ratepayers over $1 Billion while benefiting the Port Industries, who would pay a fraction of what the citizens would be expected to pay.
But that’s Paulette. She favors the rich at the expense of everyone else.
“The first American city to run out of water.”
Ten years is long enough.
Paulette served as an at-large councilmember and mayor for almost 10 years. Ten years in office and Corpus Christi is worse off than we were when she first joined the City Council.
10 years of broken promises.
10 years of embarrassing our city and making our city a laughingstock around the country.
10 years of raising rates on the citizens of Corpus Christi.
It’s time to take back our city.
It’s time we take back our reputation.
It’s time for Paulette Guajardo to go.
